November Snow

November Snow

Placing the blade to my bared neck aroused you
And brought you closer
As your pounding, broken breath
Humbled my heart to your need

It’s snowing today
And I can never forget
That once it was spring
And you
And a garden in the woods nearby

I watch nature change it’s pace
Knowing you have left
To repeat your dreams
For someone new

Rising to cross the cold bare floor
Watching the waves through frosted glass
I see a large ship return from the sea
I see a dog strain on his leash to get away

Who were you?
Where have you been?
Suspended in this weightless wind
Watching whipped crystals hit my door
From this platform in the snow

You smelled of miracles
With your long distanced whispers
I loved your intelligence.
I loved your laughter.

I will never tremble beneath you again
My feet won’t fly to the door
I watch the wind and snow
And see my dream of love blowing by.
